Let’s talk business
Please don’t be mistaken, starting a business is hard hard
work. but with such a dedicated, smart, and sensible financial/business coach,
you can gain tools and tips to make that success a little easier.
Hello friends. If you’re just meeting me, my name is Coach Bre.
I am an accountant, but I take on many roles, I am currently serving under a multi-billion-dollar
company as a corporate business transformation and compliance manager, but I am
also a small business owner, blogger and coach.
I will give you tips to help you flourish and there’s only
one rule: Progress
over Perfection.
Now I have made Part
1 of the same exact thing. Small business ideas and side hustles. I also created a podcast, a visual podcast
because I'm that girl. Um, just me explaining my thoughts and things like that
and you'll get to know about me really quick. I love big ideas. I love to talk.
I love to engage with business and the thought of being able to say I started
something. More now I'm eloped to this huge. Mega owner, right? So I'm going to
give you some more ideas when it comes to side hustle and small business ideas.
Now, remind you I'm not just like picking something random
and talking about it. I am choosing from what I have seen successful with my
business clients. My peers and within the networking business world. OK, not
only that, but as I speak about this, you probably know someone or you are
someone who's done this type of work, who had or has success. In this type of
work.
So, I would love to tell you about successful stories. So,
here's some encouragement. And here's the first idea.
1.
Hobbies and crafting
Hobbies and crafting, Is one of the best things to start up in. Why? Because It's a hobby that you would have done even if you were not going to sell them. So why not take something that you absolutely love to do, like crocheting or candle making, and turn that into a business?
The beauty of hobbies and crafts is there are sites fully
dedicated to this type of product. So,
there's a whole multiple platforms and multiple people, including me that would
absolutely love this type of authenticity. When holidays come around, I don't want
something that everybody can buy from a mainstream store. Sometimes I want items
customized or handmade for those that I think are special. So, there's a huge
need for things like this. I love to crochet but I don't have the time, so I
absolutely will buy a crocheted pillowcase. And the beauty of. Selling hobbies
or crafts? You love it, you love to do it. I hope you don't have a hobby that
you don't like doing.
So, here's some encouragement. During our 1 on 1 initial
small business consult, I met a client, who decided to start up in business
selling hobbies and crafting. She is a busy mom, but she wanted to do what she loved.
After talking through her aspirations and ideas She said “I want to get into business, help me
with the business. Wait, what do I have to do?”
Following my principles, I responded. Well, the very first
step is to take inventory of your mindset. Now, if you read Part 1 or if you
follow me, you'll know, like always, that very first step. Is to take thought
of your inventory. What is your mental mindset as of today? What capabilities
do you have? And what can you effectively and efficiently provide for someone today?
We don’t want to focus on 19 years later when you're the first ever Astronaut
with an album coming out. We're talking about today. When you sit down with me,
I want to know at this very moment. What is your mind space? I remember when I
first met Anne, how quiet she sat when I asked this question, and you can just
hear my keyboard clicking. I looked up
at her and I spoke. What? What's wrong you know?
She spoke. I really can't even do anything dealing with business.
So, can you imagine if
you're doing something you think is fun or that you love and you start to make
something off of it? I told her, even if this is not, maybe you're saying that
your crafting is too precious to be sold. I think I would give up my crafting
and my hobby for sale for at least a month or two to get the funds I needed for
another business. She agreed, and I'm glad she did. She started off by selling products
she already had made. Anne started with one pair of socks, and it didn't take
much footwork because she already had a school kid so, once her kid wore her
product the word started to spread.
Anne continued to accept my encouragement and experienced expertise. We booked her a Level 2 pre-roll out plan with Moneytelligence.
- Creating ads
- creating business cards*
- creating a logo
-creating a 30-day financial business plan
We helped Anne create advertising, business cards, branding and a logo, to help the rollout be successful.
We pushed the “go live” button on her business and
by the end of that week, she had five orders for socks. Mind you, she sold
these socks at $10 a pair, so three orders of socks and she was at 50.00
dollars.
Anne couldn’t believe people liked her craft. And I said,
well, there's billions of people in this world no matter what service or product
you offer. There are thousands of people who feel the exact same way and will benefit
from you. Don't ever downplay anything you do we have no doubts over here at Moneytelligence with Coach Bre.
OK, if you were taking a rock and putting googly eyes on it and
selling it, if those people know that it's a rock with googly eyes, they'll pay
for your products? In Anne’s case, she is
honest and forthcoming, so success is in her future. Anne continued with
Moneytelligence and signed for monthly services for business transformation, bookkeeping,
Ads and social media/online presence.
With that I
encouraged her to use her first week of sales to keep pushing. Let's keep
putting out that word of mouth that you'll have socks ready in three weeks.
Because she said I'm going to take a break so I can get all the supplies. I
said no, no, no, no, no. Keep growing and you keep pushing people towards your
product. And my favorite is the $100. I always go with the $100 rule because I
feel like I can start anybody's business reasonable, right when you talk about
diamond mining machine for $100, but I think $100. Was just reasonable. She
spent $100.00 on supplies to help Anne produce fifty pairs of socks.
She was nervous. But we kept putting those ads out, kept
putting it on her Instagram. I kept, of course, giving that free word of mouth,
giving that free promo that hey, post you on my Instagram, get you out there on
that Main Street, right?
So, we did that and by the time she had received all supplies
and made her products. She was selling half of those. She was already selling 27
socks at 10 each. Which means that before she even did the product, she had
made her supplies back 2 1/2 times. A
win is a Win.
And then she kept doing things that I offered. I told her as
you become known, your product will be more popular, do things like lives. Tick
Tock has a whole shop there. Do live sell there? Keep pushing for the next thing.
Good job, Anne. You are an inspiration to others. Staying
committed to your business and the financial future will make you a success.
2.
Event
planning. Party setup.
Yes, honey. So. Event planning is one of those businesses
that I love. OK, I'm it reminds me kind of the cleaning business. If you
remember from Part 1 how I was speaking about cleaning. Event planning. Event
planning is one of those businesses that you can, you know, have a larger range
of what you cover. You know, like maybe you're not even planning for every
event. Maybe you're just business event planning or wedding planning.
So. Here's some thought behind this. Event planning is one
of those things you set your variations of what you can offer. And what you
could provide customers.
My client Dawn wanted
to start out into an unknown area of business to her. Now sometimes with my
client base, because I am in business transformation, I do get quite a few
startups. More startups than Imagined I would ever be doing so. Sometimes the
only thing people come to me with is one idea: that they want to be in
business. They don't know what they want to do. They don't want to know how
they want to do it. Which is fine, because Moneytelligence has a progress over
perfection Golden rule. And step one, take inventory of your mindset.
D sat down with me
for our Moneytelligence initial small business chat. D and I, begin discussing a
financial literacy event that I'm holding in the future. I explained to Dee
some of my thoughts that I was going to have this event in an entire coffee
shop, which is amazing. And I started explaining to explain how my Venue would
look just chatting, you know, trying to get her to engage with that event. And
I thought she would be a good person to come to the event just to get to know a
little bit more about what Moneytelligence does and how in business, especially
women in business a stronghold.
Dee says Oh my gosh,
you should let me do your decorations. I would do this, this, this and this and
I was like oh. That is beautiful. So, you will set up my chairs and my tables.
You'll put on tablecloths, you'll put a globe in the middle of the table. She
was like, oh, we can give it a pop of color, you know, make everything brown
and nude. We're talking about coffee. OH, I said, oh, I love it. Coffee and
coins is the name of my event, so why not a brownish and nude brown kind of
thing?
I looked at my client's potential, I said Oh my God how crazy
would it be? If you did event planning, D says Event planning. What's that? what
you just showed me, you know, because when Dee came to me and she's like, I
don't know what business I'm going to do. I know I want to start a business.
I've been working for 30 years now. I feel like it's time for something I can
create generational wealth upon.
That was the idea. D was like no, no, no, no, no, I said
wait. You would have thought you were an event planning. You know, I told you
about an event. I was holding coffee and coins. You came up with a brilliant color
scheme and a brilliant idea. D even offered to bring the tables and chairs and
all the decorations. So. Yeah, y’all know my favorite number when it comes to
supplies and starting up depending on what you're doing, OK. These don't come
to me and say I want to start a cement business. I think we're going to find
you a cement truck for $100 now, right?
D. Let's start with one hundred 150, maybe $200. You have a garage space, keep 20 chairs and, a few fold out tables and you could buy supplies as you need them. No. No, I don't know. Do you remember what I said on my Part 1? We don't have any doubts over here. I don't know. It's not in your vocabulary when you're talking to me. So I said D this is amazing. I said hey. The first showcase large showcase can be my event coffees and coins, right?
She agreed, so I set her up with another client that wanted
to hold an event. Very small event. It was going to be 10 people Max. This was
kind of a friend's meeting to celebrate achieving being a new business, being a
side hustle to a small business. And I said, hey, let's go ahead and put that
in my client’s ear because that gets your business with one of my successful
clients.
She was very
skeptical. Ohh, I don't know. I don't know. I said. I don't know either. You
know I All I can do is show you how to get it, show you that it's worked. You got
to have that brain power to out forth and do. *
I can't be a puppeteer. Just like a book if you read a book.
That book will tell you every step. You can't bang the book against the wall
and say, dude, build this bed for me. No, the book isn't going to build the
bed. The book just told you how to build the bed and gave you exact details so
that you would have no questions.
I'm glad I talked D into accepting this, she upgraded to my Level 2 pre-live plan we built her a logo and business cards, to capture her ideas.
Thus was born Brown Tings event planner.
Her pre roll out was an success. I said, hey, this is the client, let's start with that $100, You're going to buy any supplies that you don't have. And you're going to make this work. My client already had seating space and was celebrating amongst friends. A girls group. Not all girls. Chad was there. Um, but Chad is one of the girls. Absolutely! So we got Dee to showcase her talents and ideas.
She charged her client $250, to throw this event. I gave Dee encouragement. I said, hey, you're already doing the event and you're already going to have to take all your things down. Why not offer cleaning up after? My client paid an extra 50 dollars and Dee walked away with 300 in total for this event. The event was amazing.
D had laid a perfect ensemble or pink and purple setting
using some of the most beautiful flowers. By the wat she got the inspiration
from my trip to Louisiana where I hit the jackpot at the casino.
Since the event was an accomplishment celebration, one way
we wanted to boost client relationships Dee provided a complimentary bottle of
champagne. Dee gained 3 new clients for her beautiful display of talents.
It was beautiful. The love and effort put into her work you could feel the love in the event.
Dee’s client was very happy, and I mean, I could say that D
was like one of the quickest turnovers into money. because the very first day
Dee had talked to me, D sold me on something I didn't even know she would have
potential in. I was proudly Dee’s first client.
So not only did D complete the gal pal event, but she also got
booked for other events. Within the first few days of me talking to Dee about a
business idea. She had worked her way to Level 3 of my business transformation
plan which includes:
a.
Bookkeeping
b. Ad creation
c.
Business cards
d.
1 social media post a week for the first 3
months*
e. Website creation
So, after D had got $300 off her first client. We wanted to think
about the next big thing that can make you even more money. Because $300 is
cool but there are people charging $600.00 for event planning out here and
making that time over time.
Before I had met Dee, I had in my budget to spend $1000 on
event planning and my venue for Coffee and Coins event. I had that prospect of
paying $450 for someone to design my space, so $ 300 was undercutting and
saving me some money overall. That was like baby, baby steps. But there's a
such thing in business. Especially when you want to get out there and get on
the Main Street quick, you undercut for a while. Even if you're only making exactly
what you put in and you slowly creep up once people start to like your things
or your equipment becomes better or your, your you know, your reviews are good
and things like that, you have higher people value you.
So please understand before Dee started her business was
already deep into a 6 figure income every year? So. Where I may say that she
leased items or how I say that $100 cap, I do have clients that already have
enough, you know, funds and availability to start at a good enough level.
Under my business transformation plan growth is important.
Dee put in another $350.00. Purchasing more tables, chairs, small
popcorn maker and some other items decorative items. She bought a few different
color tablecloths, so she already has those ready
So, with that thought though. Dee was able to start out bigger
than most clients. And that's OK too, because everyone starts somewhere, right?
Some people are able to afford a whole store at the beginning, like a physical
plot of land, and can spend $10,000 on starting up a business. Not everyone.
It's very normal to have little to no money to start a business. That's the
most normal thing there is. Those things you see on social media like oh, oh, I
started a. I still I make 7 figures which is over $1,000,000. I make 7 figures
a year off of $5.00. Yeah, probably not. Not likely at all, because if that was
the case. There would be more $5 millionaires. OK. No matter where you're
starting, that's why I like to to throw out that progress over perfection.
You're taking it as far as you can with Coach Bree. And what
is going to push you to that next big thing? Because guess what, the billion-dollar
companies are still trying to hit them trillions. In the trillion-dollar
companies is trying to hit a new bracket as well/
